Soffit is not only an exterior finish. In many roof assemblies, vented soffit is used as part of the attic intake ventilation system.
The correct combination of solid and vented panels depends on the roof and attic ventilation design. Therefore, existing conditions should be evaluated before replacing all panels with one type.

Fascia Boards, Gutters and Water Damage
Fascia commonly runs directly behind the gutter system. Therefore, loose gutters, overflowing water or failed roof-edge protection can contribute to fascia deterioration.
When fascia boards are rotten, simply covering them with new aluminum may not solve the underlying problem. The damaged wood should be evaluated first, and replacement may be necessary before the fascia is wrapped or the gutters are secured again.
